We can’t recommend regular dental exams enough, as they are the best way to keep your smile in top condition. At Dobry Dental we do what we can to make exams as pleasant as possible, including offering extended hours for convenient scheduling and hassle-free technology like digital X-rays. Still, we know not everyone looks forward to them. Fortunately, there are things you can do to ensure a great dental checkup.
- Visit your dentist at least twice a year
- Pick a time that works well for you
- Ask questions
- Prepare paperwork ahead of time
- Take good care of your teeth at home
- Schedule your next exam
Don’t Skip Your Regular Exams
Scheduling dental exams every six months gives Dr. Dobry the opportunity to find any problems in their earliest stages. That way he can treat them before they become more serious and costly to resolve. Our team will also remove bacteria buildup from your teeth to help keep them free of disease. If you are prone to gum disease or similar issues, you may need to visit us more often. Quarterly appointments may be needed to eliminate gum disease.
Timing Is Important for a Great Dental Checkup
Timing may not be everything, but it is important. If you are one of those people who likes to knock off tasks early in the day, schedule an early-morning appointment. Our Clinton Township, MI office opens as early as 8 a.m. If a morning appointment stresses you out, book your visit in the evening after work. We’re open until 7 p.m. on Mondays and until 6 p.m. on Tuesdays and Wednesdays. We’re even open on select Saturdays if it’s too difficult for you to get to our office during the week!
Don’t Be Afraid to Ask Questions
If you have questions, please ask! Questions are a great starting point to discuss your smile goals and challenges. Exams are a good time for Dr. Dobry to mention possible restorative or cosmetic options for your teeth. A checkup is also a good time to learn about the best ways to care for your teeth at home. We will happily demonstrate the best flossing techniques and more. Make a note of questions ahead of time so you don’t forget to ask.
Don’t Stress Over Paperwork
We offer patient forms online, so you can download and fill them out before your appointment. We’ve found that this can help ensure a great dental checkup. It means you’ll spend less time in the waiting room and more time interacting with the Dobry Dental team. You should also make sure you’ve got your ID and your insurance card, if you have one.
Take Care of Teeth at Home to Ensure a Great Dental Checkup
Most people would like to avoid cavities and gum disease, and it’s certainly easier to have a great dental checkup if you don’t have these problems. Daily brushing and flossing is the best way to prevent them. Brush at least twice a day. Always use a soft-bristled toothbrush and a gentle touch, so you don’t damage your tooth enamel. Floss once a day. Chewing sugar-free gum in between your oral hygiene sessions encourages saliva flow, which helps keep your mouth in great shape.
Schedule Your Next Exam
It’s easy to forget about an exam, given that you only see us a few times a year for one. That’s why we suggest setting up your next appointment as you leave our office. Make a note of it on your phone or wherever you keep reminders. We’re happy to reschedule if your plans change. But you’re less likely to miss a checkup if you make sure your next one is already on the calendar.
